ESPN REPORT: This offseason, the Knicks are anticipated to pursue the Timberwolves star.
For the majority of the season, especially towards the end of the run, it appeared as though the New York Knicks would have a successful postseason run.
Several role players filled up for Julius Randle to keep Jalen Brunson’s squad playing at full tilt even in his absence.
Now that Randle’s future is uncertain, some think that they were able to move on from him and locate individuals who were better fits for their current roster this season.
Interestingly, it appears that some members of the group are included in that. If Karl-Anthony Towns is made available, the Knicks might try to acquire him, according to a report by Sam Amico (via Dime Alerts).
According to a rumor, if the Timberwolves decide to sell the team, they could take calls for him.
Towns, a native of New Jersey, would be able to rejoin coach Tom Thibodeau with this trade, and the Timberwolves would still be able to have a frontcourt presence with Randle.
The Knicks possess the necessary assets and salary flexibility to be among the few teams who could possibly pull off a move like this.
Furthermore, with Jalen Brunson serving as the focal point of their future endeavor, Towns should be able to follow in Anthony Edwards’ footsteps by accepting a smaller position and backing down behind him in the Big Apple.
