Les Red Sox Coach Alex Cora déclarent que sélectionner Red Sox a été la plus grande erreur qu’il ait jamais commise…
Boston — In order to make room on the active roster for Masataka Yoshida, the Red Sox designated struggling first baseman Garrett Cooper for assignment on Tuesday.
Due to a left thumb strain, Yoshida had been on the disabled list since May 1. Tuesday, batting fifth, the DH is back in the order. Boston designated Cooper rather than optioning Bobby Dalbec to Triple-A Worcester and keeping both players in the organization, as manager Alex Cora stated.
“Adaptability,” Cora remarked. “Bobby was retained by us. He is a capable third player. He is able to start playing initially. He is an outfield player. Consequently, Bobby was chosen over Coop.
Until June 4 at Fenway Park, when he started in right field against the Braves, Dalbec had never appeared in a major – game in the outfield. This season, Dalbec has started 14 games for Worcester in right field. There, he started 36 games for the WooSox the previous season.
In just 24 games for Boston, Cooper was just 12-for-70 (.171 batting average), with a.227 on-base percentage, a.229 slugging percentage, a.455 OPS, four doubles, five RBIs, three walks, and 22 strikeouts.
On June 2, Boston called Dalbec back. Since then, he has made seven appearances (four starts), batting 3-for-14 (.214) with two walks, seven strikeouts, one home run, three RBIs, and a.313 on-base percentage.
