Report Angels Closing Secret Deal To Sign Brewers MVP In A Blockbuster Trade

In a 2-0 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday night in Anaheim, California, Freddy Peralta of the Milwaukee Brewers provided just enough offensive assistance to throw six scoreless innings. Pitcher Peralta (5-4) outpitched opponent Tyler Anderson (6-7), who took the defeat despite only allowing one run in seven innings. Peralta threw 101 pitches, struck out eight, walked two, and gave up three hits, all singles. Peralta gave the Angels plenty of opportunities, but the right-hander held them hitless (0 for 7) when they had runners in scoring position.

In the sixth, the Angels had their best opportunity to score against Peralta. With one out, Luis Rengifo hit an infield single and advanced to second base due to a balk. Kevin Pillar walked following Taylor Ward’s second-out strikeout. Peralta appeared to have Rengifo picked off second base with Logan O’Hoppe at bat, but he threw inaccurately into center field, allowing Rengifo to advance to third and Pillar to take second.

When Peralta retired O’Hoppe on a grounder to second, he managed to escape. After Tobias Myers pitched 6 1/3 innings without giving up any runs in Tuesday’s 6-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers, Peralta’s spotless outing was the team’s second consecutive shutout outing. Trevor Megill recorded a 1-2-3 ninth inning to record his 15th save after Bryan Hudson pitched two shutout innings in relief.
